Introduction: Dr. Eleanna Martinou
I am delighted to welcome the Keynote Speaker of the closing session of the 3rd Interdisciplinary School for Environmental Crisis, Dr. Eleanna Martinou. Dr. Martinou is a visual artist and musician whose profound body of work has earned her recognition on both national and international stages. Born in Athens, Dr. Martinou’s artistic journey began at the Athens School of Fine Arts, where she cultivated her passion for visual expression and earned her Master’s degree in 2009. Her artistic foundation has been further enriched by her extensive musical studies at the Athens Conservatoire (1987-2003), which introduced her to the concept of rhythm—a theme that remains central to her art. She recently received her PhD in Art and Philosophy from the Athens School of Fine Arts.
Dr. Martinou’s work embodies a seamless blend of complexity and connectivity, exploring themes such as human networks, perpetual motion, urban life, and the quest for freedom. Her creations ranging from paintings and digital polyptychs to three-dimensional constructions reflect a fascination with the flow of rhythm in both nature and human experience. Across her journey in painting, she has tackled ambitious projects, including studies of dystopia, architectural traces, and urban wandering, each revealing intricate layers of meaning.
Her art is not merely visual but experiential, inviting viewers to engage deeply with its rhythmic flow and dynamic forms. Through numerous solo and group exhibitions, Eleanna has shared her vision across Greece and beyond, leaving a lasting impression on audiences.
Today’s Keynote Lecture offers a rare opportunity to all of us to delve into Dr. Martinou’s creative philosophy and understand how the interplay of rhythm, flow, and freedom that is characteristic of her work serve as a perception filter of how the Environmental Crisis is reflected on artistic creation. Prepare to be inspired as she guides us through her unique artistic point of view, regarding how art can transcend boundaries and reflect the ever-moving networks of human connection with the environment.
Παρουσίαση και ανάλυση του κειμένου «Η μοντερνιστική ζωγραφική» του Κλέμεντ Γκρίνμπεργκ, το οποίο περιλαμβάνεται στο βιβλίο Από τη μινιμαλιστική στην εννοιολογική τέχνη : μια κριτική ανθολογία , μτφρ.Ελεάννα Παναγού, Αθήνα, Ανωτάτη Σχολή Καλών Τεχνών , 2006. Διαφοροποιήσεις, ως προς τη θεωρία του Γκρίνμπεργκ, που εισάγονται από τον μινιμαλισμό και την εννοιολογική τέχνη. Της Ελεάννας Μαρτίνου Στις δεκαετίες του 1940 και κυρίως του 1950 , στην ψυχροπολεμική Αμερική , παράλληλα με την ανάδυση του αφηρημένου εξπρεσσιονισμού , όσοι γράφουν για την τέχνη είναι κριτικοί , επιμελητές εκθέσεων και θεωρητικοί .Τις περισσότερες φορές είναι αυτοδίδακτοι και αποτελούν κατηγορία σαφώς διακριτή απ’όσους παράγουν το προς κρίση έργο , δηλαδή τους καλλιτέχνες .
